The Velvet Engine European Tour: A Recap in Images and Sound
From Berlin to Lisbon, The Velvet Engine took their fusion sound across Europe. This recap captures the highlights of a twelve-date tour.
The Velvet Engine returned from their European tour in January, completing twelve dates across seven countries in three weeks. The tour represented their largest international run to date and introduced their fusion sound to audiences in cities where they had never previously performed.
The tour opened in Berlin at the Echo Chamber, a 2,000-capacity venue that sold out three weeks in advance. The setlist spanned their entire catalog, including three new compositions premiered specifically for the tour. Audience response was immediate, with the Berlin show earning a four-star review from Musik Express.
Other standout dates included a festival appearance at Nuits Sonores in Lyon, an intimate club performance at Village Underground in London, and a closing night at Lux Fragil in Lisbon that ran until 5am.
"Every city had its own energy," says bandleader Julian Voss. "Berlin was analytical. They listened to every nuance. Lyon was wild, physical. London was knowledgeable about the references we are drawing from. Lisbon just wanted to dance until sunrise."
Ovation production provided full touring support, including custom lighting rigs, sound engineering, and documentary filming at every date. A tour documentary is scheduled for release in April.
